Label Glossary

STANDARD CUSTOM LABEL STOCKS

• White or Yellow Gloss - Provides an excellent, high quality print surface when it is not necessary to write or type on the label. Recommended for indoor applications.
• White Matte Litho - High quality, coated stock that offers excellent print characteristics. Recommended for labels that must be written or typed. Intended for indoor applications.
• White Uncoated - A flexible, uncoated stock that offers excellent smudge resistance and is recommended for use with pin-feed printers, laser printers and typewriters. Intended for indoor applications.
• Fluorescent - A matte coated fluorescent finish that excels in brilliance and visual impact. Designed for indoor applications. Black ink is recommended. Available in Red, Orange, Chartreuse, Pink and Green.
• Foils - A paper sheet designed to provide a classic metallic appearance. Foils are not intended to be typed or written on. Recommended for indoor applications. Available in Bright Gold, Matte Gold, Bright Silver and Matte Silver.
• Thermal Transfer - A super smooth, smudge-proof label stock specifically selected for thermal transfer printing. Excellent for high-speed thermal transfer printers. Superior bar code printability.
• Latex - A highly moisture resistant, bleached, kraft sheet with a low-gloss finish. Latex impregnated for excellent flexibility and conformability.
• Satin L - A saturated paper with a pearlescent coating. Embossed to resemble a satin cloth. Special removable adhesive is ideal for fabric applications.
• Direct Thermal - A thermal imaging label stock that is heat activated at 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Testing for specific applications is recommended.
• Laser - An uncoated, face sheet that works well for most medium- and high-speed printers. Available in fluorescent colors. Testing for suitability to your specific application is recommended.
• Piggyback - An uncoated, face stock and two liners where the top label can be removed and applied to another surface. For indoor applications requiring two labels.
• White or Clear Vinyl - A durable, flexible, weather resistant stock that is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Lamination or varnish is recommended for harsh environments.
• Polyester - Extremely durable film stock intended for use indoors or outdoors where longevity is required under harsh conditions. Lamination is generally recommended for best results. Available in Matte Silver, Chrome, White and Clear.
• High Performance Film - A 3.0 mil polypropylene stock offering outstanding graphic quality. An excellent choice for prime label applications. Useful where a high strength indoor label is needed. Performs will on most rigid and semi-rigid surfaces.
• Conformable Polyethylene Film - A white, top-coated film stock providing an excellent low-cost alternative for vinyl.
• Synthetic Thermal Transfer - An ultra smooth, synthetic, coated, smudge-proof stock for outdoor thermal transfer applications.
• Fluorescent Laser - A lightweight, fluorescent stock designed for excellent image quality and processing in most desktop, non-impact printers.
• Gloss Laser - A smudge resistant, cast coated sheet ideal for custom printed laser labels requiring multi-color graphics.
• Laser Card Stock- A white, 90 lb. index stock, lightweight for laser printer applications, though durable enough for special tag or post-card applications.
• Laser Latex - A 60 lb Latex saturated face sheet designed for use in high-speed laser printers.
• Laser Imprintable Polyester - Available in clear, white and matte silver providing excellent durability of a polyester along with laser printer compatibility.

CUSTOM LABEL ADHESIVES

• Permanent - Features a high initial tack and excellent bond strength. Minimum application temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Permanent adhesive is supplied unless otherwise requested.
• Removable - Allows a label to be removed after application. Note that the adhesive eventually becomes permanent and cold damage some surfaces. Always test for suitability.
• All-Temperature - Designed primarily for application to frozen surfaces but also performs well in hot temperatures. Application temperature down to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Works between -65 degrees to +200 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Opaque- A colored adhesive used to "cover up." Performs well as a permanent adhesive.
• High Tac - Highly aggressive permanent adhesive designed for use on difficult surfaces such as textures or unfinished wood (pallet labels for example).
• Ultra Removable - A special purpose, ultra-removable, clear acrylic, UV stable adhesive with excellent adhesion to high surface energy substrates. It provides reposition ability upon application.

LAMINATION, VARNISH AND UV COATINGS

• Polyester Lamination 1 mil - Available in clear or matte finish. The best label protection available. Lamination is abrasion and solvent resistant and is dimensionally stable. Recommended for use on all face stocks where maximum life and quality appearance is desired.
• Polypropylene Lamination 1 mil - A low cost, clear over laminate offering excellent abrasion and solvent resistance. A good choice for short-term outdoor products and for indoor applications where abrasion resistance is required. A good choice for product labels.
• Standard Varnish - A high gloss, low abrasion resistant varnish.
• Scuff Resistant Varnish - A low gloss varnish with good abrasion and water resistance.
• Computer Imprintable Varnish - A matte overprint used to make stocks imprintable by dot matrix printers. Used over gloss and matte stocks and films.
• UV Overprint - An extremely high gloss overprint that offers abrasion, water and mild solvent resistance. Excellent for prime labels or wherever a quality appearance is required.
• UV Thermal Overprint - An extremely high gloss overprint that accepts imprinting by most thermal transfer printers.
